Going to school for a degree in business management and administration may be intimidating because of how broad the selection of jobs are. In this blog, I will be presenting you three jobs that are common in the business world in hopes to shed light on your options. When going over these options, be sure to consider your personality traits as well as what you are passionate about. Payroll and Timekeeping Clerks

Compile and keep personal records for each employee. Prepare, file, and search for employee reports. 

Compile and record employee payroll data, commissions, post wages and deductions, and prepare checks.

  • Computer skills is important to have for this type of role

  • Processing information on a daily basis with deadlines 

  • Active listening, reading comprehension and speaking skills

  • Must be extremely social and connect with people 

  • Deciphering the different tones of speech through written and verbal expression

  • This requires a Bachelor's degree, although some may accept an Associate's Degree.

  • Technological skills, specifically accounting software, is essential to learn before stepping into this role. 

  • Being keen on taking note of accurate data 

  • Skills in mathematics, critical thinking, and reading comprehension

     

  •  A Bachelor's degree is required for this job, however there are other tiers of accounting that require as little as a high school diploma. It is encouraged to get a Bachelor's degree instead.

Overview

Overall, these jobs require similar skills, but can provide different experiences. Building on your speaking, reading, and math skills are useful for a business degree. Aiming for a degree such as a Bachelor's is good to build your credibility for each job. 

Learning Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Apps are great for each position as well. Deadlines is a crucial part of every job on this blog.
